Possible Increased Sound Disturbance During Loveland Festival Due to Weather Conditions
We would like to inform our community about a possible increase in sound disturbance during Loveland Festival, which may have been experienced by residents over a wider area than usual.
Due to a rare atmospheric phenomenon known as a temperature inversion, sound waves including music and crowd noise can travel much further than normal. Under typical conditions, sound rises and disperses into the atmosphere. However, during a temperature inversion, a layer of warmer air traps the sound closer to the ground, reflecting it back towards the earth. As a result, noise from the festival may have been clearly audible in areas that usually experience little to no disturbance.
We acknowledge that this may have caused inconvenience to some residents. At Loveland, we always strive to minimize the impact of our events on the surrounding community. Each year, we review our approach and invest in improvements to reduce any potential nuisance.
We sincerely thank you for your understanding and will continue to do everything we can to balance an unforgettable festival experience with care for our neighbours.
